50 reasons to be glad you're pregnant

( like i'm not, already! ) just to share with you mothers-to-be! (already mothers, let's take a trip down memory lane...)

taken from babycenter ( i swear by this site for everything about pregnancy!)

1 Relishing the early weeks when only you and your husband knew your special secret.

2 Knowing you've got nine whole months to plan, dream and fantasize.

3 Choosing maternity clothes - they've never been more practical or more sexy.

4 Now you've got the perfect excuse to pamper yourself - spending hours in a scented bath, enjoying a massage or rubbing soothing lotions into your growing bump.

5 Maternity leave when you will have two whole months (or three months if you work for the government) to enjoy your baby.

6 You can join a antenatal class and find a whole new bunch of friends. Don't forget our online community: another great way to meet people due at the same time as you.

7 For once in your life you need to get heavier - pregnancy is Nature's way of making you feel good about putting on weight.

8 If this is your first baby, enjoy the next nine months sleeping late at weekends: you won't get many chances later on.

9 At last you've got the bosom you've always wanted, which means you also have... ( daddy loves mommy's curve :) )

10...a great excuse to buy lots of pretty new bras. ( speaking of which, i need to do bra shopping this week! can't fit in no more! )

11 Finally, you can ask people to get off their seats for you in the LRT, train or bus. ( not so far, but looking forward to!)

12 At last you'll have something more than pot plants and cats to care for and nurture!

13 Suddenly you'll find you're getting lots of extra attention from parents, aunts and uncles, not to mention your husband. ( owh yes! )

14 You may find you develop a closer relationship with sisters, cousins or friends who are parents themselves. Congratulations, you've just won free admission to the parents' club! ( this is very true )

15 Telling your mum, dad, sister, brother, aunt and seventh auntie twice removed, the good news and watching their faces light up. ( my mom cried! )

16 New talents! Whether it's folding reusable nappies or assembling a flat-pack cot, you'll suddenly find yourself trying out all sorts of new skills.

17 Suddenly you'll feel a new appreciation for your own mother and all she went through having you.

18 Decorating the nursery: one of the most exciting things you'll ever do.( can't wait for this! )

19 Feeling those first fluttering kicks and thinking, "Is that what I think it is? Or is it just wind?"

20 Feeling just fine about sending your husband out for roti canai followed by double-choc chip ice cream and cendol. ( my case would be McDonald's Fillet O Fish at 4.00am! )

21 Your parents digging out your old cot or pram, which they've kept safely all this time "just in case".

22 Going for healthy walks with your husband and getting fresh air in your lungs because it's good for you and good for your baby.

23 Enjoying the extra-vivid dreams you get in late pregnancy - and laughing about them with your friends.

24 Feeling a little pair of heels prodding under your diaphragm and knowing you'll soon be meeting the little person they belong to!

25 Choosing baby clothes and planning what you're going to buy.

26 Writing a pregnancy diary for your baby to read in the future. ( i have this! )

27 Getting someone to take photos of you smiling over your enormous bump so that, one day, you can look back and be amazed you were ever that size. ( jay has been doing this for me :) )

28 Finding out how many people there are out there ready to care for you: grandma, grandpa, mum and dad, great grandaunt Bibi who used to scold you for playing masak-masak with her good china, doctors, nurses, breastfeeding counsellors...

29 Lying in bed with your husband's arms around you and your bump, knowing that love has created a new life. ( owh yes! this one's definitely! )

30 Enjoying indulgences, such as evenings out, weekends away and anything else you might not be able to do so easily once the baby arrives.

31 Knowing that from now on, whatever happens, you'll never be bored again.

32 Making new friends whenever you go shopping - everyone has a pregnancy story to share.

33 You can spend whole evenings debating baby names, but don't forget to try our BabyCenter baby namer and top Malaysian names lists if you get stuck! ( my name suggestions became instant hit with the daddy )

34 Imagining what he or she will look like. Your sweet little ears, of course, and his sexy eyes! ( owh yes, everyday! )

35 Dreaming about, "My daughter the prime minister/pop star/brain surgeon." ( daddy wants AJ to be a pilot! )

36 Looking at your growing bump in the mirror and realising there's a person in there!

37 Making out a squirmy outline on the ultrasound monitor. Asking for the pic to take home and pinning it up next to your work station, or just keeping it in your bag to sneak looks at.

38 The expression on your husband's face as he sees the test strip turn blue, looks at your growing bump or feels the baby kicking. ( jay is always excited, no matter when )

39 Buying that first little cuddly toy for your baby, not somebody else's. ( i know what i am going to get! )

40 Making that phone call to your husband to tell him that - we're off! - labour has started.

41 Trying out all those exercises you learned at antenatal class and finding out that they actually work!

42 Being held and supported throughout a contraction by your husband or labour companion and knowing that you can trust them totally.

43 Finding out, as the contractions get tough, that your repertoire of swear words (in several languages!) is far more extensive than you ever realised!

44 Making an informed choice about pain relief and finding that it's right for you at thatstage in labour.

45 That huge rush of pleasure and relief when, suddenly, all the pain and effort stops.

46 Looking into your newborn's eyes and falling utterly in love.

47 Hearing your husband tell his colleagues, the cleaning lady, delivery man and anyone else he can find because his joy and pride are overwhelming.

48 Celebrating! Whatever the time of day or night.

49 Making all those phone calls to announce the arrival. Telling everyone the news and hearing the excitement in their voices.

50 Waking up to see your baby sleeping next to you and thinking, 'Wow! This is real. I'm a mum!'

we met again * entry for lil AJ*

My dear baby AJ,

mommy and daddy were not supposed to meet you yet until next monday May 23rd, but because mommy had a little accident last Sunday May 15th, daddy had to rush mommy to mommy's OB-GYN so she can check on you.

when mommy had the accident, mommy feared the worst for you. but daddy didn't. he had a strong feeling that you'll be fine. but because what had happened to mommy was not the usual, we didn't waste any time.

i bet you heard how fast mommy's heartbeat was beating. it almost felt like it was going to burst out from my chest. but daddy stayed calm next to mommy. poor daddy, mommy squeezed daddy's hand so hard.

mommy's OB-GYN, Dr. Zunita was not in that day, so mommy met Dr. Siti. She was just as nice as Dr. Zunita, but she had this serious face on. She told mommy not to worry. when Dr. Siti was scanning mommy's belly to look for you, mommy couldn't look at the monitor. daddy had to come sit very close to mommy.

and then she found you.

i was holding my breath, and right when Dr. Siti showed mommy your very fast heart beat, mommy was so relieved! and then a few seconds later, you bounced! only mommy and Dr. Siti saw you did that because daddy happened to look away when you did. i melted!

you must have felt sorry daddy didn't get to see you bounced the first time so you bounced again. and yes daddy did saw you! and then daddy melted too. after that you just didn't stop bouncing! is there a trampoline in mommy's belly? and was it you who gave mommy all the gases? owh well, gas or no gas, mommy has a permanent smile on my face. because you are so adorable!

my SYUKUR to the Al-Mighty that you are safe and is active in my belly. mommy and daddy went home smiling, and daddy kept showing to mommy how you bounced.

owh and do you know? mommy's getting evening sickness now, but it's all good though, because mommy knows these hormones are good for your growth. and guess who else got it? that's right. daddy did! he only started yesterday!

today, you are 11 weeks and 6 days. when you were at 11 weeks and 3 days, you were 4.7cm in length. you're growing so fast! and tomorrow you will be 3 months. only 6 months to go before we welcome you in this world!

you are one busy baby now bouncing around in mommy's belly. pick up more skills so you can show to mommy and daddy the next time we meet. can you hear daddy's voice when he speaks to you? daddy speaks to you everyday now. he is super excited as always. get use to it okay?

our next meeting is a month from now, already mommy and daddy can't wait for the day already. Surprise us more, okay sweetheart!

you give mommy nothing but sweet dreams to dream at night. :D

i love you with all my heart (and so is daddy!)

your mommy

Putting up with the rain

the rain, as in this quote by Dolly Parton on morning sickness :

" if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain"

yes. and this is exactly what i am doing now.

i hope it'll be over as i reach the second trimester mark. the nausea, diarrhea, vomiting as well as digestion problem had kept me off work and in bed. the second worst was last week, doctor had to write me a week-long medical leave. lucky i have jay who stayed beside me the whole week.

please excuse the long pause from blogging, the only comfortable position for me was lying on my side, keeping my eyes closed. i had stopped taking the morning sickness pills, i don't like the effect on my body. it got me high and i don't like it.

i am feeling much better today, while that, i think i should do a recap on last week.

on April 28th, jay and i celebrated our 13th year together. he took me up a winding road and we ended up at a restaurant on a hill, with the view of kuala lumpur. food was the greatest, ambiance was perfect. he surprised me. i love that kind of surprise!

on April 29th, jay and i reunite with my side of the family. everyone was at home. fabulous. owh and i made chocolate chip cookies for my dear husband who craved for it. my sister mimie and i made enough cookies to fill five cookie tins, just enough for everyone to take their shares home. and jay finished the whole tin within two days. got to make some more when we go back to shah alam again. mimie said the cookies were delicious, if God willing we might make extra to sell for Eid. i will be about 7 months pregnant then, if nothing gets in the way, maybe i will help.

on May 2nd, i started to feel unwell. i was getting evening sickness instead of the usual. i couldn't sleep the whole night, i woke up every 2 hours to go to the bathroom. i just wanted to sleep in the bathroom instead.

on May 3rd, jay took the day off to take me to the clinic. was given two days of medical leave so i can rest at home because of the not-much-the-doctor-can-give-me-for-fast-healing-except-to-drink-a-lot-of-water-and-rest.

on May 5th, i was not getting any better.jay again took the day off and we went to clinic. i was given some medications to help keep food down, which i took for 2 days and stopped. i focused on natural remedy which made me feel a lot better.

on May 7th, i was feeling a lot better that i managed to tag along with jay to go see his favorite DJ performed at Sunway. felt great meeting old friends.

on May 8th, though i am just a mother to be, jay treated me to a nice time for Mother's day. he is so amazing.

i am back at work today, on May 9th. i hope i will be alright through out this week. i will be seeing my doctor again this Friday for routine check up.

AJ is 10 weeks and 3 days today. i hope AJ is all good in my belly. i will be scanning again in two weeks time when i am scheduled to meet my OB-GYN for 3-months check up next May 23rd. jay and i couldn't wait. i bet AJ has grown. i have a baby bump already, I LOVE IT. amazing how i have this little 'US' inside my body now. God is great.

feeling all fine (for now, and hoping it will last longer) and blessed,

AJ's mommy. :)
