of babymoon, birthday celebration, and a "bird"

i have been wanting to go away for babymoon for a very long time now, and thanks to the impromptu birthday gift cum holiday invitation from my dearest sister mimie, we hit the east coast last Saturday for babymoon and my birthday celebration. and because jay's birthday falls in the month of Ramadhan, we decided to share the celebration. The birthday gift was a 3 days-2 nights stay at Awana Kijal.

i have earlier planned a getaway to Cherating as i reached my 4th month, but due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to cancel the trip. Yes i wanted to hit the beach before I deliver AJ.

so when Mimie offered us to come home to Terengganu with her, jay couldn't say no plus mimie's boyfriend Shazz was coming too so they're going to do lots of water activities together. i am limiting myself to the pool only.

Guess who was more excited about the trip?

yes. our little one. AJ.

AJ was kicking me almost all the time. i began to wonder if AJ ever sleeps at all.

Owh i miss Terengganu! i miss eating Kembung Celup Tepung and Sotong Celup Tepung di tepi pantai Paka. It's funny the place we went to have these was just in front of my husband's house when he was living Paka but he didn't even know of its existance. During our stay, jay told AJ about our histories and memories there. i couldn't help but smiling...

We left Kijal on my birthday. yes i turned 28 last July 25th. Thank you all for the wishes. we left Terengganu with a very very heavy heart. i cried when i have to say good bye to my sisters. ( two of my sisters are staying there ) :( and i cried just as we reached ampang! ( because it was my birthday and i missed everyone!)

Okay enough with the sad part.

Now, the best part.

I think it's normal to check on the baby after a long travel, so we went to my O&G to check on AJ.

Before that, Jay told AJ to "show to daddy".

So Dr. Zarina measured AJ's femur length, head circumference, and abdomen circumference first to determine AJ's weight. AJ is growing according to its gestational age, and weights about 372grams (at 21 weeks).

When that's done, Dr Zarina started looking for that thing. AJ was showing it to us again, just like the last time when it was just me attending the O&G visit. and this time, Dr Zarina was still unsure but we did see a "bird". it's twice now that we saw a bird, so yes i have an instinct that i am going to have a boy.

because there's an old-wives tale, ( and as told by my sister ) that if i am going to have a girl, my baby would kick me when i hold my niece, Keisya. but now, AJ doesn't kick when i play with Keisya. So is AJ a boy?

My mom is so happy if i am having a boy. that will be her second grandson, i only have one nephew and three nieces. my mother in law on the other hand is hoping for a girl. hmmmmm.... what matters the most is, that my AJ is healthy and cukup sifat!

P/s : I secretly want a boy!

lots of love,

all about AJ

I was scheduled to go for the MGTT (Modified Glucose Tolerance Test) last Thursday at my 20th week. i had to take this test because my mom has diabetes, and not for other reasons (rapid weight gain, high sugar level in urine, etc). I am super terrified about taking this test, and it's not the result that i am worried about (because i am not into sweet things that much) but more on the blood withdrawal. i am okay with blood withdrawal from the arm, but not from pricking your index finger! (which in this case, yes it'll be from my index finger, twice).

Because my MGTT is at 8am, my husband jay could not come with me. and because i have O&G appointment in between that ( i have two hours gap before the second blood withdrawal ), jay had missed the chance to see AJ during the ultrasound scan.

the glucose drinking was not so bad after all. i took my sister's advice - "to drink it all in one breath" to avoid getting dizzy from the very sweet drink. my blood result after 2 hours (of taking the drink and nothing else after that) was 6.6 which is in the normal range. Thank God! no need to repeat the test!

anyway, before i said my good bye to jay that morning, i told him this, "if AJ wants us to know whether AJ is a girl or boy today, AJ will show it to me and i will tell you," then i added this, "but if AJ is not showing to me at all, that means, AJ wants you to be present and then only will AJ reveal."

so i was excited to see AJ ( i always do! and, who doesn't? ) especially now that i have started to feel AJ in me ( and jay has, too ). the O&G of the day was Dr. Gouri, a very nice lady too. i love nice lady O&Gs they made me very comfortable! :) So Dr. Gouri was measuring AJ head's circumference (HC) , Femur length (FL), Biparietal Diameter (BPD) and my abdominal circumference (AC). while doing this i asked Dr. Gouri " Can we see if it's a boy or a girl", and then Dr. Gouri said, "let's see..."

So she went from left to right, looking for AJ's 'thing'. then she said " Your baby now tengah kangkang, you see these are its legs," yes. AJ was clearly spreading its legs. and i thought i saw a 'stick' in between...

"Hmm... it's a ... hmm wait. i'm not going tell you. i mean i don't want to have the umbilical cord mistaken for what could be a boy. this is your first baby, so i don't want to give you high hope. you know what i mean? give it another month. then it'll be clearer." Dr. Gouri said this followed with a big smile.

Alright, alright.give it another month then.

It's frustrating, really. ( no, not really, i just wish to know in advance, that's all. i mean, who doesn't?)

so i called jay after the scan. " I knew it!"

"Knew what?"

"I knew AJ didn't want to show it to you because I am not around", Owh that. right. Hahahahaha it hit me right in the face!

A boy or a girl, it really doesn't matter to us. All we pray for is a healthy baby! and from what Dr. Gouri showed and calculated of AJ, yes Alhamdullilah, AJ is growing according to it's gestational age. :)

So if you want to know if i'm having a boy or a girl, wait for my next update, then. Hopefully i am able to reveal by then. ( if AJ lets me know this )

Till then you take care!

P/S : but i really thought i saw a tiny stick!

Lots of love!

Are you a boy or a girl?

Let's see if AJ will show to mommy this Thursday July 14th, 2011 during O&G Visit as well as my appointment for Modified Glucose Tolerance Test (MGTT). I have to take this test earlier because i have a family history of Diabetes. Hopefully all is well, i am not so much of a sugar (or anything sugary/sweet) fan, but you'll never know until you test. i have done a glucose test prior to my pregnancy and i have normal sugar level in my blood, so i hope diabetes is not an issue during my pregnancy.

I can feel AJ's movement now (or denyutan) . Once i didn't feel AJ, i put Ayat Kursi on, attached a headphone to my belly and turned the volume higher than normal. It must have caught AJ by surprise. AJ kicked me so hard I felt like AJ's legs or hands were going to come out from my belly! Padan muka kena terajang dengan anak sendiri...hehehehehe

Anyway, I can't wait for AJ to 'kick a little harder' so daddy can feel AJ too! Soon i guess as we will go into our 20th week this Friday! Thank you all who keeps us in their prayers. May the Al-Mighty repay you with good health, wealth, and happiness!

Keeping my fingers crossed (hoping that AJ will show that 'thing') and praying for the best.
